It's sometimes hard to write a review for a fast-food chain considering quality may vary from location to location.. But recently, Good Times Burgers has made it easy. If you haven't heard of Good Times it's a fast food location for burgers and frozen custards.
When I first ate at Good Times 10 years ago it was actually the talk of town. A nice big daddy bacon cheeseburger with wild fries and 2 dipping sauces was the way to go!
But today, I would stay away from the bacon and stay away from the fries... So I hardly go anymore...
It all started when I noticed some changes... and what a coincidence it's during the tough economic times. At first Good Times removed the wild fries and replaced them with 'Fresh Cut Fries' which sounds really good, but trust me there only good for retaining oil... On a positive note, they did bring the wild fries back recently, you just have to special order them.
So I went through the drive through and ordered a big daddy bacon cheeseburger with a large coke and some wild fries. The price was around $7.22 and I got my order and drove to the nearest parking lot to eat. When i took a bite of the burger I noticed the bacon was very tough... even brittle-like.. So, I figured I would return it and get some fresh bacon...
So I asked for the manager and told him I would like a new burger because the bacon was tough and crunchy... and he tells me that it's 'normal' and they make the bacon every 3 days! Can you believe that? Actually, let me give you an even more exact quote from the manager...
"The bacon is cooked every 3 days, if we need bacon we pull it from the previous days until we need to make more. That's how we do things here..."
He even goes on to tell me how other places have frozen bacon... Well I would much rather have frozen bacon instead of dehydrated bacon that's 3 days old. It's a no brainer.
All in all, I ate some bacon they cooked 3 days ago...and unfortunately it wasn't bacon day, so I had no choice but to get my money back and leave..
Well let me ask you something Good Times! How hard is it for a company who makes millions, to cook bacon daily?? If you can't do that, you shouldn't even be open. Fast food chains need to quit acting like gas stations cause I need more then a full tank of calories... I need a meal that can I enjoy.
So next time you are driving and come across Good Times, remember there's a 66% chance your bacon was cooked days ago.
